Arsenal took control after the first 15 minutes. In the 16th minute, Mariona sent a long pass to Olivia Smith. Smith ran past defender Rebecca Knaak, went around goalkeeper Yamashita, and scored to make it 1-0. Katie McCabe tried a long shot in the 32nd minute but missed.
Manchester City pushed harder after the break. Arsenal looked tired at times. In the 63rd minute, Lauren Hemp asked for a penalty, but the referee said no. Viv Miedema scored in the 77th minute, but it did not count because of a foul on McCabe.
City brought on Iman Beney, but they could not tie the game. Arsenal held on to win until the end.
