Chelsea played Man City in the semi-final of the FA Women’s League Cup at Joie Stadium. The game was close. Both teams made some mistakes with the ball. This meant few chances to score.
Man City had a good chance early. Bunny Shaw got a long pass from Lauren Hemp. She went past Chelsea keeper Hannah Hampton. But Sandy Baltimore blocked her shot from 25 meters away. Chelsea’s Lucy Bronze got a yellow card for a high challenge on Hemp. She was lucky not to get a red card.
Chelsea scored when they were not expected to. Sandy Baltimore sent a cross into the box. Wieke Kaptein headed it in for 1-0. This happened just before half-time. After the break, Man City tried hard to equalize. Chelsea defended well.
Man City hit the post twice. First, Vivianne Miedema did it near half-time. Then Kerstin Casparij hit it early in the second half. Yui Hasegawa had a strong shot saved by Hampton. Bunny Shaw had another chance, but Hampton saved it. Hampton made five important saves in total. Man City had five clear chances but did not score.
