Levante UD beat DUX Logroño 3-2 in a tight game. The result gives Levante new hope in the fight to stay in the league.
Levante UD visited DUX Logroño at Las Gaunas looking for their first win of the season and a way to escape the bottom of the table. Before kick-off, both teams and fans held a moment of silence for Fernando Martín and his children, and for Delia Bullido, former press chief of Levante UD.
The stadium was quiet and respectful during the tribute. Players from both sides then tried to focus again, knowing that the match had great value in the battle against relegation.
Levante UD started the game with high pressure and quick attacks. After just seven minutes, Érika González played a smart pass to Raiderlin Carrasco, who finished calmly to score the opening goal for 0-1.
González stayed very active in attack and soon came close to scoring herself, but her shot went just wide of the post. DUX Logroño reacted with shots from Dona Scannapieco and Sandra García, testing Levante’s defense and forcing the back line to work hard.
Levante kept pushing and was rewarded again before the break. Ana Franco found space in the box and scored Levante’s second goal, putting her team 0-2 up and in control of the match.
DUX Logroño did not give up and started to create more danger near Levante’s goal. Catalina Ongaro took advantage of a chance to score and cut the gap to 1-2, lifting the home side. A few minutes later, Flavine Mawete struck the equaliser, making it 2-2 and changing the mood of the game just before halftime.
The second half began with both teams looking for a winning goal. DUX Logroño’s coach brought on fresh players, including Margarita Giménez and Mia Asenjo, to add more energy and speed in attack.
The substitutions helped DUX Logroño gain some control, and they started to attack more on the wings. At one point, Rebeca put the ball into the net, but the assistant referee raised the flag for offside, and the goal was disallowed. The score stayed 2-2, and tension grew on the pitch and in the stands.
As the clock moved toward full time, both sides seemed tired but still pushed forward. Levante UD looked for quick counterattacks, while DUX Logroño tried to move the ball with patience and reach the box with crosses and short passes.
With just four minutes left in regular time, Levante finally found the breakthrough. Raiderlin Carrasco, who had scored the first goal, turned provider and set up Érika González inside the area. González hit a precise shot that beat the goalkeeper and made it 2-3 for Levante UD.
DUX Logroño tried to react in the final minutes, sending more players forward, but Levante defended the lead with focus and clearances. The referee soon blew the final whistle, confirming Levante UD’s 3-2 victory.
Érika González was named MVP of the match for her winning goal and earlier assist. The result gives Levante their first win of the season and new hope of avoiding relegation. DUX Logroño, meanwhile, remains without a win and under growing pressure in the lower part of the table as the season continues.
