Katharina Naschenweng has signed a new deal with FC Bayern Munich until 2028. This move shows how key she is to the team.
FC Bayern Munich has agreed to a five-year extension for left-back Katharina Naschenweng. She will stay with the club until June 30, 2028. This helps the team plan ahead.
Bianca Rech, Director of Women's Football at Bayern, spoke about Naschenweng's skills. "Kathi brings a quality that is very important for us and that we will need in the coming years," Rech said. Naschenweng can play attack and defense well. She is fast and uses her left foot strongly.
The 28-year-old from Austria joined Bayern from TSG Hoffenheim in summer 2023. She has won two German league titles, one DFB-Pokal, and two Supercup trophies. After a bad knee injury, she came back strong this season. She has played 39 games and scored three goals for Bayern.
Naschenweng is happy to stay. "The entire club and everything offered to me convinced me to stay for more years," she said. She had good times like winning her first title and tough times with injury. The club helped her a lot during recovery. Munich feels like home to her now.
Bayern is keeping key players. They extended deals for captain Glodis Perla Viggosdottir and Magdalena Eriksson. But Georgia Stanway has left the team. Decisions are still open for players like Maria Luisa Grohs, Tuva Hansen, and Carolin Simon. Young Franziska Kett is signed until 2027. This means more competition on the left side of defense.
