Denise O'Sullivan has signed with Liverpool FC. She left North Carolina Courage after many years.
Denise O'Sullivan, midfielder and captain, is moving from North Carolina Courage to Liverpool FC. She spent almost nine years with the Courage and became a key player there.
O'Sullivan played 186 games for the Courage, the most in club history. She helped win three NWSL Shields, two NWSL Championships, and two Challenge Cups.
O'Sullivan said thanks to the Courage. "North Carolina will always be my home, and I’m forever grateful to the club, my teammates, and the incredible fans who supported me." She feels connected to them but is ready for a new step.
Liverpool is last in the Women’s Super League with 4 points from 12 games. The team needs to get better to stay in the league. O'Sullivan's skills will help.
This move puts her family closer in England, just a 40-minute flight away. She plays for Ireland, with 128 caps, and helped them reach the Women’s World Cup in 2023 for the first time.
Before the Courage, she played in Ireland with Cork City and Peamount United, and in Scotland with Glasgow City, winning three league titles. She had loans in Australia and played in the Women’s Super League with Brighton in 2020.
