Deportivo Abanca and Costa Adeje Tenerife drew 1-1 at Riazor Stadium. Both teams had chances, but neither could score a winner.
Deportivo Abanca and Costa Adeje Tenerife met at Riazor Stadium in a tight Liga F match that finished 1-1. Before kick-off, the stadium observed a moment of silence in memory of Fernando Martín and his children, creating a calm and respectful start to the day.
Deportivo struck first after only twelve minutes. Raquel García won the ball high up the pitch and quickly passed to Ainhoa Marín. Marín then set up Millene Cabral inside the box, and Cabral placed a low, accurate shot into the net to give Deportivo a 1-0 lead.
After scoring the opener, Millene Cabral soon suffered an injury and could not continue. Her early exit was a blow for Deportivo, as she had been very active in attack. She was replaced by young forward Lucía Rivas, who tried to bring energy and depth to the home side’s front line.
Deportivo kept control for long spells after the goal and tried to use the wings to stretch Costa Adeje Tenerife. The visitors, however, stayed well-organised in defence and avoided giving away clear chances. The first half ended with Deportivo leading but without adding a second goal.
In the second half, both teams came out looking for more goals. Lucía Rivas had a good chance for Deportivo but missed the target from inside the area. That missed opportunity gave Costa Adeje Tenerife hope that they could still get back into the match.
Tenerife coach Yerai Martín then made an important change, bringing on Koko to add speed and creativity in attack. The substitution worked quickly. Koko received the ball on the flank, broke forward, and picked out Clau Blanco with a smart pass near the edge of the box.
Clau Blanco made the most of the chance created by Koko. Blanco controlled the ball and fired a strong shot into the top corner of the Deportivo goal, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. The equaliser brought the score to 1-1 and changed the mood of the match.
After the goal, Blanco remained very active, pressing high and linking well with teammates. This all-round impact in attack and in the build-up to the goal led to Blanco being named the MVP of the match. Tenerife grew more confident, and the game became more open as both sides went searching for a late winner.
In the final minutes, both teams pushed forward. Costa Adeje Tenerife came close to turning the match around when Paulina Gramaglia found space and took a dangerous shot. The Deportivo goalkeeper reacted quickly and made a key save to keep the score level.
Deportivo also tried to regain the lead, sending more players into attacking areas and looking for crosses into the box. Despite the increased pressure at both ends, neither team could find a second goal. When the final whistle blew, the score remained 1-1.
The draw means Costa Adeje Tenerife stay in 5th place in the table with 25 points. Deportivo Abanca take one point from the match and will look ahead to their next fixtures hoping to turn close contests like this into full wins.
