1. FC Union Berlin confirmed that Judith Steinert has signed a new contract with the club.
The club did not disclose the length of the new deal.
Steinert joined Union in 2024 when the team played in the 2. Bundesliga and was a regular starter in the promotion campaign.
She appeared in 23 of 26 league matches that season and provided six assists while scoring one goal, helping the team earn promotion to the Bundesliga.
Steinert developed in the youth ranks at TSG Hoffenheim and made her Bundesliga debut in 2013 against FC Bayern at age 18.
After recovering from a serious injury early in her career, she returned to become a steady leader in defence at Hoffenheim.
Before joining Union, Steinert played for SC Freiburg from 2022 to 2024, where she made 48 appearances and scored five goals over two seasons.
She then signed for Union Berlin in summer 2024 and quickly became central to the team’s defensive setup.
Steinert said she feels at home in Berlin, praised the team and the supporters, and said she is ready to give her all for the club.
She described the club environment as special and said she is pleased to continue with Union.
Jennifer Zietz, managing director for women’s professional football at Union, called Steinert a key part of the defence and praised her reliability and leadership on the pitch.
The club said it is happy that she will remain with the team as they move forward together.
