SGS Essen has extended Julie Terlinden's contract early. The 18-year-old winger will stay with the team until 2028. Terlinden is from Essen. She joined the club from Wesel in the summer of 2024.
Julie made her Bundesliga debut on the second matchday of last season in Köln. Since then, she has played 18 matches for Essen. She scored her first goal in a 3-0 win against Leipzig near the end of that season.
"For me, this closes a circle," Terlinden said. "I was born in Essen, and I feel at home here. The club's spirit and passion match mine. I love the hard work and the team spirit among the players."
This season, Terlinden had an injury that kept her out for some time. She returned in an away game against Freiburg. "I want to make up for lost time and help my team as much as I can," she said.
Coach Jessica Wissmann is happy about the contract extension. She said Terlinden was close to being a regular player last season. Managing director Florian Zeutschler is sure Terlinden will grow with the team, even after her injury.
