The Women’s Bundesliga group is getting closer to working with the DFB. Talks have gone well, and a meeting is set for February.
In early December, the Women’s Bundesliga set up a new league group. Lately, leaders from this group and the DFB have talked about teaming up. Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of Bayern Munich, gave good news at a New Year’s event in Frankfurt.
Dreesen said there were good talks before Monday’s event. The new league’s leaders and the DFB, led by Bernd Neuendorf, took part. He said it is key to keep talking.
On February 5, the league will meet to tell members about next steps with the DFB. The talks aim to make a joint group to help market and run women’s football in Germany.
The 14 Bundesliga clubs made their league group at the end of 2025 to help make women’s football more pro. They did this on their own, not with the DFB as first planned. Dreesen said fights over main points led to this, so they went ahead without the DFB then.
