

2025 brought big wins for women's soccer teams. Stars and coaches made it a great year.
Gotham FC won their second NWSL Championship. They had a hard season with injuries but got into the playoffs with nine wins, nine draws, and eight losses. A strong end to the season helped by Jaedyn Shaw led them to success. Rose Lavelle scored the winning goal in the final match.
Italy's women's national team reached the semifinals of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. They scored first against England with a goal from Barbara Bonansea. But they gave up a late goal and lost in extra time. Italy's run was strong, and they plan to do better next time.
Arsenal won their second UEFA Women’s Champions League title. They beat Lyon 5-3 on aggregate in the semifinals. In the final, Stina Blackstenius scored in the 74th minute to beat Barcelona. This win made the team and new manager Renée Slegers happy.
Kansas City Current had a top regular season with 65 points from 21 wins. Temwa Chawinga, two-time NWSL MVP, led the team to set records like most points in a season. She scored in seven straight away games.
Women coaches did well in 2025. Renée Slegers took Arsenal to the UWCL win. Sarina Wiegman won her third UEFA Women’s Euros title with England. Bev Yanez got Coach of the Year in the NWSL for Racing Louisville's first playoffs. Emma Hayes leads the U.S. Women’s National Team for coming events.
