Heleen Jaques will become SGS Essen’s head coach in January. She aims to keep the team in the Frauen‑Bundesliga while holding on to the club’s identity.
Heleen Jaques, a 37-year-old coach from Belgium, will take over as head coach of SGS Essen starting in January.
The club replaced its previous coach and sporting director after a difficult start to the season.
Jaques said her first goal is to help the team avoid relegation and keep the club’s family-like identity intact.
She also mentioned her excitement to work with the fans at Stadion an der Hafenstraße.
From January, Jaques will work together with interim coach Jessica Wissmann and an expanded coaching staff to run daily training.
Jaques previously coached KAA Gent in Belgium until October.
SGS Essen have shown signs of improvement and are unbeaten in their last five competitive matches, with three wins during that run.
Despite that run, the team sits only two points above the relegation zone, making the coming months important for its future.
