Boston Legacy FC signed goalkeeper Casey Murphy to a contract until 2029. The deal has an option to extend. Murphy is 29 years old. She played before for North Carolina Courage. She has played 20 times for the US national team.
In 2024, Murphy helped the US team win gold at the Olympic Games in Paris. Her skills and experience will help Boston Legacy FC in its first season.
The club started on September 19, 2023. It was first called BOS Nation FC. It changed name to Boston Legacy FC in March 2025. An earlier name change try in October 2024 did not work. The team will be the 15th in the NWSL. Play starts in 2026. The first home game is on March 14, 2026, at Gillette Stadium.
Denver Summit FC will join as the 16th team. The NWSL season begins with the Challenge Cup on February 20, 2026. The regular season starts March 13, 2026. It has 30 games over 27 weeks. Playoffs start November 6, 2026.
