Roosa Toivanen has announced her retirement from competitive football after twelve seasons with PK-35 Vantaa. She was a key player for the club and holds the record for the second-most competitive matches in its history.
Toivanen began her football path in the youth team of Rajamäen Kehitys. She later joined PK-35 Vantaa through VJS. She made her first competitive appearance in February 2015 in the Finnish Cup. She gained experience in the league with VJS. By 2016, she was a regular starter in the Naisten Liiga. She played 19 matches and scored three goals that year. This helped the team win the Finnish championship and the cup.
Toivanen started as a full-back. In 2018, she moved to center defense. This change helped PK-35 Vantaa win another championship. In 2019, the club lost its top league license. Toivanen stayed loyal. She played 19 matches in the Ykkönen and scored five goals. This effort helped the team return to the top league.
Over her career, Toivanen won three Finnish championships in 2015, 2016, and 2018. She also won the Finnish Cup in 2016 and the Ykkönen championship in 2019. She had a runner-up spot in the league and two second-place finishes in the cup. She played 184 league matches and scored 13 goals. She took part in 37 cup matches with nine goals. She made eight appearances in the Champions League. In total, she has 250 competitive matches for PK-35 Vantaa.
Her time in professional football is over. Toivanen might play in lower leagues, but she will not compete at the top level anymore.
