Rehanne Skinner has left her role as head coach of West Ham Women with immediate effect. The club made the change after a poor start to the season.
Rehanne Skinner, who took charge of West Ham Women in the summer of 2023, has left her post with immediate effect following a difficult run of results. The team has one win from 11 league matches and sits 11th in the Women’s Super League, leaving the club near the bottom of the table.
In their latest match, West Ham drew 2-2 with Liverpool, a side that has also struggled this season. Liverpool played more than 70 minutes with 10 players after a red card, and West Ham twice surrendered the lead to allow late equalising goals.
Skinner’s record since joining West Ham has been mixed. In her time at the club she reached a League Cup semi-final but finished ninth in the league last season and 11th in her first year in charge. Her past roles include management at Tottenham and coaching positions with youth teams for the Football Association and Wales.
The club board said recent results had not met expectations and announced they would start the search for a new head coach. Skinner was one of a small number of women managing in the Women’s Super League and one of the English managers in the division. The club will appoint an interim or permanent replacement while they recruit a new lead coach.
